Study of the antibacterial activity of Murrix®
The study conducted in our laboratories has demonstrated the antibacterial activity of Murraya against some pathogenic bacteria, specifically against the class of streptococci, including Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sanguinis.
From the results obtained in our study , all three strains were inhibited and lysed by Murraya powder . Specifically, the MIC and MBC of Streptococcus pyogenes were found to be surprisingly low , making Murraya a perfect candidate as an adjuvant in anti-streptococcal antibiotic therapies.
During the study phases of the Murraya samples, the geographical origin of the plant was found to be a crucial factor. The choice of raw material was therefore essential to ensure antibacterial activity against some strains of streptococcus, including Streptococcus pyogenes, against which the plant showed a more marked antibacterial activity.

Ribes nero
In an in vitro study carried out at the Human Physiology Laboratories of the Léon Frédérica Institute, University of Liège, human chondrocytes were used and the effect of some derivatives of gallocatechin (prodelphinidins), of Blackcurrant on the production of proteoglycans, type II collagen, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and on the activity of COX 1 and 2 was evaluated. ⁷ ' ⁸
The study demonstrated a stimulating action in the production of chondrocytes of the hyaline cartilage present in the nose, trachea and bronchi as well as an anti-inflammatory action through the inhibition of COX2 in the tested tissues.
The leaf extract has also shown a dose-dependent and time-dependent anti-inflammatory effect similar to that of indomethacin. The substances with the greatest activity are the proanthocyanidins which have shown, in murine models, a marked anti-inflammatory action. ⁹
The antioxidant activity of Ribes is instead linked to the inhibition of the production of free radicals and of the anthine/xanthine oxidase system by the anthocyanins and polyphenols present in the leaves. This powerful antioxidant action could contribute to completing the anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic action of the extract. ¹⁰ ' ¹¹
